The Road Church is thrilled to enter into the new year with a renewed sense of purpose and mission. As a new church plant, we have faced unique challenges in establishing ourselves as a community of faith. The Story of How The Road Church Was Formed
During the days of disaffiliation, the Western North Carolina Conference of the UMC became somewhat more hostile than in previous years. Many churches, especially those with a certain amount of assets, came to find it quite difficult to walk through the provisions afforded by the Book of Discipline. Mark Weekley served such a church, which failed its vote to disaffiliate by two votes. He was then summarily reassigned to a two-point charge to finish out his time in the UMC ignominiously. It seemed that he and his old church were to languish. God had other plans. This segment tells the story of how The Road Church began. I hope you are uplifted and encouraged by Mark's testimony here.
