Our Story

Our Journey as The Road Church

The Road Church was founded on September 24, 2023, when we gathered for the very first time in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Home. That first service was attended by 83 people, and each week afterward our congregation continued to grow.

As momentum built, our leadership met to consider a temporary worship location. On October 2, 2023, The Road Church officially became a Global Methodist Congregation. For the next eleven months, we worshiped together in the Mint Hill Masonic Lodge, grateful for a place to gather while we prayed and planned for a permanent home.

In January 2024, two dedicated members began searching the Mint Hill area for a long‑term location. Around that time, we learned that St. Luke Catholic Church would be selling their property at 13700 Lawyers Road as they had moved their worship locate their new campus on Fairview Road. With great hope and faith, our church launched an ambitious and optimistic building campaign—and by God’s provision, we were able to purchase our current property in December 2024.

We give thanks for every step of this journey and for the people God has brought together to form this church family.

Serving as a Global Methodist Congregation

Our commitment to being guided by the Word of God remains steadfast as we continue to serve our community and spread the message of faith and love. We look forward to the future and all that it holds for The Road Church as a Global Methodist Congregation.

Our Senior Pastor

Pastor Mark Weekley

The Road Church is honored to have Pastor Mark Weekley serving as our senior pastor. Pastor Mark, shaped by a lifelong grounding in Scripture and influenced by his upbringing as the son of a Methodist minister, brings a steady, thoughtful, and Christ‑centered approach to ministry. He officially began his service with us on December 10, 2023, and has now faithfully led our congregation for over two years.

In his early messages to the church, Pastor Mark emphasized the central role of faith in our shared life—reminding us that faith is both a personal commitment and a communal bond that strengthens us as a church family. He spoke of the living presence of God guiding us forward, encouraging us to trust in God’s ongoing work among us.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow, we remain grateful for Pastor Mark’s leadership, pastoral care, and vision for the future. His dedication to spiritual formation, worship, and community outreach has helped deepen our life together and strengthen our mission. We look forward to all that God will continue to do through his ministry and through the people of The Road Church.
